Knowing Gary Joyner was knowing a leader—a generous, kind-hearted man who believed in supporting community, building relationships and working hard. Gary saw the good in people—and his servant-leader mentality was evident in his 25 years of service to the Boys and Girls Club of Wake County.
Education enabled Gary to become one of the Research Triangle Region’s most successful business and community leaders. To honor his legacy, the Gary K. Joyner Memorial Scholarship Fund partners with the Boys & Girls Club of Wake County to provide college scholarships to deserving, yet underprivileged youth.
Beginning in 2018, the scholarship will be awarded annually with an emphasis on rewarding students in the Boys & Girls Club’s annual Youth of the Year competition. Criteria for candidate selection includes academic achievement, leadership and engagement—all qualities Gary exemplified.
